Sadie, Sadie, Married Lady

Well, I'm really married! I missed home already but it's been fun here so far. We were busy running around getting some furniture, unpacking, etc. With money running low, I had to find a job. I started teaching gymnastics at the YMCA & I got a job at Goldsmith's Department Store as an "extra" for the holidays. An "extra" just means that I float around to which ever department I'm needed most. They kept putting me in the men's accessories department; men's cologne, ties, belts, wallets, etc. I think men want a female's opinion when it comes to these items, especially colognes & ties. I also spent a lot of time in linens (where I learned how to fold & re-package fitted sheets) & gift wrapping (I wrapped a lot of packages for the holidays).

Jeff started school & he studied his tail off! I worried about him but what ever happened, I hoped we wouldn't have to stay here too long...it's just too far away from home! The plan was for him to get his undergraduate at Memphis State & then apply to medical school. It's a long road ahead, but Jeff was focussed & determined.

When Thanksgiving came around & we found something to be thankful for...we were expecting - June 27th! It was hard to believe - me a mommy! We could hardly wait! We were both very excited. I hoped I could be as good a mom as my mom is! I didn't have any symptoms other than I skipped my time of the month & I was gaining weight. I went to the Health Center at MSU to take a pregnancy test but had to go to work so Jeff brought the results to me at work...

Thanksgiving was actually kind of a drag. We ate at the Carter's. They sawed the turkey in half so not to waste it & saved the other half for Christmas. It sure looked weird not to have a fully stuffed & dressed bird on the table. It really made me homesick.

I wasn't looking forward to Christmas. It was going to be simple because money was low, but let's face it, it just wasn't going to be the same without family...
